Add a tablet to MyLibrary for £80
MyLibrary is best used on a mobile device through the nimbl app, but not all young people own, or can safely be given access to such technology. That's why we provide MyLibrary loaded onto a 7-inch, Android tablet made by it, so all young people can make the most of the product. What's more, our tablets are locked down with specialist software called 'Hemlock'. Hemlock limits use of the tablet to just the nimbl app so there are no distractions and no concerns about security.

'Hemlock' lockdown software
Supplying vulnerable children with internet-enabled technology is a legitimate worry for many staff working with young people. That's why our tablets have been locked down with Hemlock to ensure use of the tablet is safe and concentrated on learning. With Hemlock, the tablet cannot be rebooted to access the standard Android operating system. Instead, the tablet only has access to the nimbl app for using MyLibrary and WiFi to enable MyLibrary resources to be downloaded. Everything else on the tablet is disabled for the user, including, but not limited to:
- Web browsers
- Google Play for downloading other apps
- System settings
Connecting to WiFi
To log in to the nimbl app for the first time on the tablet and to download resources from MyLibrary, the device needs to be connected to WiFi. To connect to WiFi:
- Tap on the special green Settings button on the device home screen
- Scroll down to Nearby WiFi networks
- Tap on the name of the network you would like to connect to
- Type in the network password and connect
To access MyLibrary you need your individual nimbl login provided to your organisation by Pearson Publishing. This consists of an institution code, a user name and a password.
- Connect to WiFi (see above)
- Launch the nimbl app from your device homescreen
- Enter your nimbl login details
- Tap 'Add' on your MyLibrary titles. Wait until the button says 'Read'. This means the resource has been downloaded.
