Disadvantage gap continues to shrink according to DfE data
Statistics published by the Department for Education found the gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers continues to narrow in primary schools, with the disadvantage gap shrinking by 13% since 2011 and 3% in the last year. Focus on... Departmental CPD
Great teaching is founded on excellent subject knowledge. As well as general pedagogy, it’s important that teachers have access to CPD that helps them develop a strong subject knowledge and subject-specific teaching practices. One way to achieve this is to use departmental meetings for subject-specific CPD.
Our new course Leading Departmental CPD helps heads of department and CPD leaders to manage departmental time and make key changes to maximise outcomes. The course offers suggestions for activities that can be done with staff to focus on subject knowledge, curriculum design, lesson planning and a culture of collaboration. For more information and a free preview, see Leading Departmental CPD.
Please consider contributing to future issues of the Academy Update. We are keen to receive brief pieces (150-250 words) offering advice on good practice and problem solving for leaders of MATs. I look forward to hearing from you.
