The app Creative Voices brings together the top entries of two creative writing competitions for children in care and young care leavers: Coram Voice’s Voices 18 and our own CreativeMe. It also showcases entries from Voices 16 and Voices 17 competitions.
These creative writing competitions aim to remove the stigma around children in care and encourage them to express themselves, and Creative Voices showcases their creativity and individuality.
The Voices 18 awards ceremony was hosted by Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi. Among the judges of Voices 18 were reporter Ashley John-Baptiste, news presenter Jackie Long and authors Jenny Molloy and Lisa Cherry. The judges of CreativeMe were childrens author Roger Hurn, children in care education specialist Gareth Williams-James and founder of Red Balloon Learner Centre Group Carrie Herbert MBE.
