This Mental Health Awareness Week (coinciding with National Learning at Work Week), we are delighted to announce we have started work on a new resource, Being Resilient, written by David Gumbrell, experienced teacher and creator of The Resilience Project.
David Gumbrell writes: "Resilience, whatever its definition, is a dynamic thing. One moment we are up, another we are down. The natural ebbs and flows of life create inevitable highs and lows for all of us. What differs for each of us is our reaction to these challenges and how we endeavour to overcome them."
A commitment to fostering staff resilience was present in our very first CPD course for mobile, Managing Behaviour by Martin Barwise. Martin talks about the importance of ‘the resourceful state’, inviting teachers to reflect on the techniques they can use to stay calm and foster a supportive environment for one another.
Martin Barwise writes: "The resourceful state [is] a psychological state where you can readily identify and access the resources appropriate to a situation.”
