Trinity College Cambridge recently introduced a Teacher Visitor Scheme, inviting secondary school teachers to stay at the college and meet college students, academics, and admissions staff. This is an important first step in acknowledging that university applications are not just about students.
Teachers will encounter students with a diverse range of needs and goals. These may include overseas applicants, students eligible for CLA scholarships or students with pastoral problems that universities need to be aware of. Teachers need information, resources and support in guiding their students towards the HE institutions that are right for them.
